HOLIDAY PARTY 2005
The American Association of Indian social Workers celebrated their Holiday Party on January 29, 2005 at the Kerala Cultural Center, Queens, New York. More than seventy members and their families attended this colorful event . Mr. J. Mathews , an Assistant Principal in the New York City was the guest of honor. Mr. Mathews is a former President of FOKANA (Federation of Keralites Association in North America) and a familiar with the activities of the Association. He spoke in glowing terms about the role of Social workers in the Community and how effective AAISW has been in the Indian Community.
During the function, Mr Saji Joseph Vice President welcomed the gathering and spoke about the community spirit evident in the presence of so many members. Mr. John Mattam President spoke of the proud achievement of the past year and the future vision for 2005 and beyond. Mr. Sajan Thomas was the Master of Ceremonies who kept us everyone lively and entertained by his comments.
During the function , Mr. James George , Treasurer Presented a Check to the President for 2000 dollars to be used for the children of Tsunami in India. The amount was collected by the Executive Committee from their coworkers. The Web based Child Sponsorship Program was also inaugurated on the day by the Chief Guest.
The highlight of the day was the cultural program and variety entertainment by our children and the members which included singing, dancing, skits and display of exceptional talents which kept everyone in a festive mood. . There is a wealth of talents and resources and it need to be harnessed to bring out the best.
No celebration is complete without a sumptuous dinner and the membership enjoyed the dinner up to the brim. Sajimon Kadavil Joint Secretary Proposed vote thanks and appreciation to everyone who made the party a grand event.
